We must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, militarism and economic exploitation are incapable of being conquered. A nation can flounder as readily in the face of moral and spiritual bankruptcy as it can through financial bankruptcy.

Dr. Martin Luther King, April, 1967

It's true...most societies are becoming more and more focused into a thing-oriented society and are losing sight of the very people that make up that society and their welfare. This is also a good reason why religious life/priesthood is not understood well at all by our society; these holy people are focusing their entire lives on their fellow brothers & sisters and that's just unthinkable in a society that is focused on things that make life pleasant for oneself.

This reminds me of all the immigration issues in our country... on late night television, it's a joke.. for politicians it's a platform but mostly I've heard it referred to as a problem.

Behind this whole "THING" there are people... it is people we are talking about.. living, breathing, hard working, just trying to make it.. people..
just like you and me.
